Firefox crashing frequently after update
No obvious link between the webpages being used at the time of the crash. Crashes started a few days ago after a windows system update and firefox update. Crash reports all seem to list "EXCEPTION_BREAKPOINT" as the Crash Reason.

It is best to add the Crash ID of the report as text starting bp- After posting the forum software creates a link
- for example bp-419ff347-9be5-4cf4-819b-72f542150128
- bp-36871e5a-44e2-44f7-acad-591112150127
Hi, sorry you are having problems.
The bad news is your crash signature is at the moment the number one crash signature for Firefox 35. (I just looked at two of your reports)
The good news is it is something engineers and developers will obviously be aware of. I suspect basically it is due to Firefox running out of or losing track of memory.
It also seems to have a variety of possible causes.
It probably would only be worth us filing a bug for this if you are able to find reliable steps to reproduce
- A crash within a few minutes
- An obvious and rapid increase in memory use
- A crash always on a single website
Otherwise we are down to general troubleshooting steps and waiting hoping fixes are forthcoming from other filed bug reports.i
Even if we are unsure about the exact cause one thing you should certainly do is identify what you need to do to prevent crashes.
Please have a look at the general advice
- Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly)
- Firefox uses too much memory or CPU resources - How to fix
- Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode
I note you did not include the listing of your Firefox extensions when posting this question but the crash reports list quite a few.
Please post back to say what you have tried and if any step prevents crashes occurring.
- Reports for your CrashIDs
- bp-419ff347-9be5-4cf4-819b-72f542150128
- bp-36871e5a-44e2-44f7-acad-591112150127
- both have same Crash Signature: OOM | small
- Many related bugs, does not seem worth listing fully but includes
Bug 11115929, bug 1089682, bug 1060268, bug 1066036, bug 1057869, bug 1045588
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
