3.6 vs. 10
I am a hold-out still running 3.6.26 Firefox is the only browser I use. I'll be here forever. You know I get messages about 10.0.1 and that I'm using an old version. I would like to be convinced through opinion that I should upgrade. I am totally happy with the way things are now with 3.6.26. I don't want Google Chrome or a browser that looks like it. I'm willing, but like opinions.

- Hide Google Options - I don't see it listed at AMO - either removed by admin over security or that add-on wasn't obtained from there - nothing Firefox can do about finding an update - Locate an alternative add-on.
- See Real for an update for their add-0n - not hosted at AMO.
- You don't need the Java Console unless you are developing Java applications and need to test them in Firefox.

Support for Firefox 3.6 will end in April. After that there will be no more security updates or patches.
It is rather simple to make the Firefox 4 thru 10 versions look almost identical to Firefox 3.6 with a few easy steps.

The largest change can be made with a few preference changes and use of the Customize mode.

Add-ons mentioned in that article.

You do not need to have the menu bar hidden or have the tabs on top.
With some effort it is possible to undo a lot of changes that make Firefox 4+ version look different from Firefox 3.6.x
There are also extensions that can restore the Firefox 3.6 behavior and revert some changes.
There will be a time when website no longer support Firefox 3.6.x version and a later Firefox version is required.
Also plugins like Flash no longer support Firefox 3.6 officially in the current Flash 11.0 version.
Thank You for the correspondence, I do feel bad holding out for so long. If I can get the newest version to look similar and work as well I'll be glad to upgrade.
I am updating this morning to the newest version. Please wish me luck as I only use Firefox nothing else. Everything has been perfect for me all this time. And now I'm giving it all away to update. You have no idea how much I fear this. I must be a thrill seeker, but after all that's how I got to Firefox in the first place. Oh! never mind apparently "Incompatible Add-ons Found" This will not work for me, ...darn, and I was ready too.

Thank you for your help and concern. Hide Google Options is only needed to hide the Google sidebar. It's no fault of Firefox. Microsoft, Google, Facebook,...etc. Have us all by the balls and continue to make computer life difficult and miserable at best. Firefox seems to be an island in the sea of madness, this is why I am dedicated at the very least enough to be open to the update from 3.6.27 to 10.02. I am however not ready to give up the The RealPlayer Browser Plug-in. I see you've found a solution to other concerns I am having. I will however, do the upgrade to 10.0.2 on one machine and deal with it. This I would not do if not for your attention to this thread. So, thank you for continued help. I fear I'll be back. My Video/Audio Editing computer can temporarily live without the RealPlayer Browser Plug-in, and maybe once I get to 10.0.2 I can get the plug-in to work or an update will magically fall from the sky.

Don't confuse the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension with the RealPlayer plugin that plays the media files.
The RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension only ads some extra feature to download and save media files.
Features to download and save media files YES! I hate Real Player and NEVER use it for anything ever. It's that plugin that's the reason for it's existence on every computer I ever had. it is wonderful, anything else seems terrible. I have updated to 10.0.2 and using it as I type. It will all be OK eventually, I hope. I got the cacheviewer-continued working, had to find it under "Web Developer" but it's there. Thanks for that. I'm looking into the Real plugin now. Hide Google Options hasn't got me yet, but I know they will. I might be able to live with that nasty sidebar, I'm used to seeing it on everyone else's computer LoL! Thank You so much for your continued help, you are making this transition more painless. I'll keep you posted on what's up with the Video Download plugin from Real. I will even re-install their program if that's what it takes.
Hey! RealPlayer video download plugin working as should be. I updated Real recently, but it was able to update again and the plugin is working. The cacheviewer upgrade works well. That friendly Google junk is here now thank you Google. I hate that sidebar. Maybe those people will get one for FF10.0.2 Got the home button on the left where I like it. Thanks to you everything is coming along, AND I'm upgrading the other 4 machines this evening. I hope it's OK to mention any future needs for getting accustomed to this upgrade. Yes I like FF 10.0.2. Thanks for convincing me to go for it.
