How can I get rid of this awful "upgrade", 4.0?

This new version is horrid. I've loved FF since version 1, and even when a change was a odd, it made sense. But this is a terrible upgrade.

Honestly, if I wanted to be running Chrome, I would run Chrome.

How do I get rid of this and go back to the latest v3?

Can you be more specific about what you don't like? Perhaps it is easy to fix. For example, if you prefer the classic menu bar to the orange Firefox button, tap the Alt key, then

View > Toolbars > Menu Bar

But if you have no patience for such things, here's the process to roll back:

First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older

Close Firefox 4.

You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.

Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.

Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

Thank you. I don't have a Firefox button. I'm on XP, and apparently that was not something that automatically shows up.

I hate having the tabs on top. I want the tabs on top of my page, so I can go right to the top of the work area and choose a new tab.

And yes, I want my old interface. Most of the add-ons that were in my add-on bar are now taking up room on my primary toolbar.

I know I am not alone in hating this interface. I'm reading it on other forums I am on, that have nothing to do with FF, so perhaps the developers should realize that not everyone is savvy enough to come to these boards (which are not very easy to find) to complain, but there are a lot of complaints out there.

Thank you for the information on rolling back. I plan to do that. But, and this is important, are they going to continue to develop patches and things for 3.6?

Shoot. I went to View > Toolbars > Menu Bar, which was already checked, unchecked it, and now I can't get it back.

sigh

Maybe I will switch to Opera.

To get the classic menu bar back, tap the Alt key, then

View > Toolbars > Menu Bar

Under View > Toolbars, you also can switch the position of the tabs.

I'm not sure how long 3.6 will be patched. I can see that a patch was released for 3.5 in April, so I suspect it will be for a while, but with the new accelerated release schedule, I think we are all entering uncharted territory!

Thank you very much. I just wish Mozilla would get the hint that a lot of people are very unhappy with the new look.

I suppose I will have to bite the bullet...

Well, I joined this site just to register my disappointment with 4.01.

I like downloading Youtubes & nothing works with 4.01 Keepvid can't drag applet to toolbar Tried another 4 extensions & none work

So I went back to Firefox 3.6

This is like Linux. They fix one thing & break two more!!

FF4 resets whenever I restart my system. Lots of people complaining about the same problem with no resolve.

Watch the FF penetration rate fall!

As a web developer, this sucks. Clients who have called asking me how to fix this same problem are told the same thing. "Its a Firefox issue that they can't seem / don't want to resolve. Uninstall it and use Opera, IE or Chrome because we have no idea when, or if, they will tackle the problems with their product."

We have also told our new clients "Due to obvious problems within the Mozilla framework, we can no longer guarantee a correct display on Firefox Browsers since we have no ideas what other issues may arise and support is essentially non-existent to users or developers."

I was faithfully Firefox for many years but no more. I call this the 4 F's... FireFox Four Fail

UPDATE: Just installed the 5.0 upgrade and guess what? STILL the same problems. I guess Mozilla doesn't seem to care about the people who have to deal with this failing situation. I'm sure Google is happy about it though.

Just Google firefox 3.6 and it will give you the option to download older version, you need to delete the new version first
