Partial disappearance of email account

I have 2 email accounts, one Hotmail and a Gmail, in that order. On starting Thunderbird, I’m asked to put my Hotmail password in. It then works for a while then ask for password again. The Gmail one works fine. This has been going on for about 2 months.

In account settings it shows [email protected] In Server settings: Server name: pop-mail.outlook.com User Name: [email protected]

So far, all appears to be good. Where it fails is when I go to Tools>Settings>Passwords>Saved Passwords, no Hotmail account shows, only my Gmail account. Anyone have an idea how to solve the constant sign in and retrieve my account in Saved Passwords please?

Best regards,

Is your account set to use oauth authentication (I think it is essential in hotmail now.) Normal password is certainly out and I think application passwords are on their way out. Gone in some countries and not in others.

Thank you for the reply. I did try oauth but that didn’t work, I wasn’t able to receive mail with it on. Changing email address from Hotmail.com to Outlook.com worked for a while, but now, I have to put password in again, every time I start Thunderbird. Looks like Mozilla or Microsoft will have to sort this problem. been going on for a long time. Regards,

When you input password are you selecting the checkbox for Thunderbird to remember password? ~If no then it will not be saved, so you will get asked for it each time.

I have done a folder repair and it seems to have rectified the problem. I did get the settings back in the password section when I changed email to Outlook.com. Many thanks for replies and hope the fix is permanent. Regards,
