I'm trying to reach a company from an email link on their website and an email composition window doesn't open. Nothing happens when I click the link. I've tried it with my iphone and another computer and it works. I've reinstalled Thunderrbird 102.7.0 and made it my default email and still it won't open. Could it be a setup problem on Thunderbird or my computer?

Check 'default apps' in windows to see how mailto link is set.

I'm using Windows 7. When I set Thunderbird as default email and press OK, it automatically reverts back to "Use my current e-mail program". There is a note at the bottom of the page that says "If a program does not respond to your choice to enable or remove access to it, please contact the vendor of that program."

Thunderbird doesn't even show up in "Setup your default programs" list, only Thunderbird (calendar). Is there something else I could try?

I have no ready ideas and not sure how Windows 7 is supported for that. I did locate a URL with suggestions, but it may be non current. https://www.ubergizmo.com/how-to/set-default-email-client-windows/

Thanks for your help David, but nothing seems to work. I'll just have to live with it.

I'm sorry I couldn't help. Windows 7 is a strong product, but I haven't used it in a decade. I did find this site and it may have steps that work: https://www.hendrix.edu/HelpDesk/Computers_and_Devices/Windows_Computers/Changing_File_Associations_in_Windows_7_(Default_Programs)/ I wish you well in your pursuits on this.
