How to add addons globally on a user's computer for Firefox 75
Hi,
I'm trying to install an addon for my users at my company. I have about 4500 machines that need to have this extension installed and I can't find what I need in order to install the extension globally through the registry. Mozilla just came out with Firefox 75 and now I can't add an addon to the browser without having to remote into the computer and move the extension into the browser to install the addon, I would like to avoid to minimize impact to my company's resources.
I've tried this site below. Tried to put an entry into the registry and it's not working. https://extensionworkshop.com/documentation/enterprise/enterprise-distribution/#installation-using-windows-registry
Tried this site to try and find the GUID folder and can't find it in the Roaming folder https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-remove-add-on-extension-or-theme
Tried this site but still can't find the GUID folder in roaming https://extensionworkshop.com/documentation/publish/distribute-sideloading/
Could I get steps on how to install an addon into the registry for Firefox 75?

jscher2000: thanks for catching that. I thought we were discussing policy this whole time.
We were discussing policy this whole time. Mike, YOU stated that I was still able to use my OLD registry keys to import into the registry so I DID THAT and it wasn't working. It seems like there's a major mis-communication here. I ALSO LABELED that I never touched GPEdit before this. Did you see that?
A little bit of feedback on this entire thread, don't make things this complicated for the customer. Mark this thread as closed and not resolved.

I'm sorry, I misread initally. When you said old settings, I thought you meant our old extension policy.
You definitely can't use the old way referenced here:
as it says at the top of the page.
But I've never had people interact with the registry directly to add policy. They use gpedit to add it. So I was confused by using the registry to add policy directly.
For a typical Windows admin, they simply use Gpedit or Windows Active directory and deploy the policy.
Hi paulazizeh, you had been working under the Policies key:
I created the registry keys (Extensions and Install) into Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\ manually because there weren't there. Then I added
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\Install\1 = "//C:/Program Files/Verint/DPA/Client/[email protected]"
I changed the syntax from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\Install\"1 =" "file:///C:/Program Files/Verint/DPA/Client/[email protected]"
to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\Install\1 file:///C:/Program Files/Verint/DPA/Client/[email protected]
Your later screenshot just did not match the keys being discussed earlier in the thread. ??

What you're pointing out is that I was not installing the reg keys within the Policies, I get that, I understand that. This part is finished. Lets move on.
WHAT I WAS SAYING after I spoke with Mike about using my old registry keys so I tried to import my old registry keys into the registry into the non policy registry (STILL understanding that's not the location to put the registry keys anymore). All I'm pointing out is that I have old registry keys that I used to use and now they're not working (STILL understanding that's not the location to put the registry keys anymore). WE HAVE BEEN working in the Policy space now this whole time. WHAT MIKE WAS SAYING was I was able to use my old registry keys and they SHOULD work, they didn't work.
Mike,
ok, no worries. Since there's no policy for enabling an addon with Private Browsing, will there be something in place in the future?

Hi paulazizeh, I'm just a forum volunteer, I don't close threads. Also, why not come back and update it once you find the working combination of GPO or registry keys? I'm sure others will need the same information and it can be a useful reference.
