Firefox Quantum blocks all linking from all sites. The preference menu on my MAC does NOT have advanced tab. How do I fix? Firefox no longer default browser!!

Quantum was forced on me yesterday. Since then it blocks linking to any new tab/site. The preference menu on my iMac does not have the advanced tab, and so none of the solutions given for similar problems work. How can I fix it?

For the moment my work around has been to make Safari my default browser. OS X ElCapitan 10.11.6

Could you explain this problem in a little more detail. What do you mean by Firefox "blocks" you from visiting any new tab/site? What error message do you get, or does Firefox just show a blank page?
