RECENTLY I NOTICED THAT WHEN I GET A UPDATE OR SECURITY PATCH WHEN I TRY TO OPEN THEM THEY DISAPPEAR AND SAY THAT THE FILE WAS MOVED OR DELETED. I HAVE MISSED SEVERAL OF THE LATEST PATCHES BECAUSE OF THIS. I HAVE SEARCHED FOR THEM BUT THEY ARE GONE. THIS HAS JUST STARTED HAPPENING. HELP !!!!!

What do you mean by you "get" an update or security patch? There are unfortunately a lot of fraudulent sites distributing dangerous fake updates and security patches. Many show official logos with no authorization. You need to be very cautious about downloading or trying to open those.

If your security software is whisking them away to the trash -- a potential explanation for a file suddenly vanishing in mid-download -- let's tip our hat to the software and hope it is making the correct judgment. If you want to check on whether a particular download is real, could you try this:

  • Open your Firefox Download history using Ctrl+J
  • right-click a failed download and try "Copy Download Link"
  • Paste the link into a reply and we'll let you know what we think

Oh, I see your question duplicated and you also have replies here:

I'll go ahead and add my comment there, too, since this thread probably will get locked.

OK. I will lock this thread to prevent confusion.
