When opening a pdf outside firefox, the browser leaves behind a blank "New Tab". I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and did not import any settings from internet explorer. I have changed the one setting: options/applications/"Portable Document Format (PDF)" set to "Use Adobe Acrobat (default). Now when i navigate to a website that downloads a pdf, the pdf opens in a new Adobe Acrobat window outside of Firefox however, a blank "New Tab" is left behind inside the Firefox browser. I didn't notice this behavior until 48.0.2. Internet Explorer does not exhibit this behavior. You notice the new blank tab briefly appear and then goes away. Is there a setting I'm missing?

apparently Mozilla doesn't see the value in replying to their support site. Very disappointed.

It's probably due to bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1301056

Can you type about:support in the location bar and paste here the line called "Multiprocess Windows".

Multiprocess Windows is set to: 1/1 (Enabled by default)

That bug does appear to be the one. is there any fix yet for it? Version: 49.0.2 Build ID: 20161019084923

Follow that Bug report to see when progress is made towards fixing it.

Doesn't appear to be a high priority since is is labeled as "polish".
