Having trouble installing some addons

Recently I've noticed a few addons that won't install from the Mozilla Addons site. They download fine and prompt me to install, but then the addon doesn't get added.

Here are two examples: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/toggle-proxy-51740/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/proxy-switcher/ (this one installed fine if I downloaded the XPI)

I know that addons now need to be signed, and also that Firefox checks for compatibility issues, but if something won't install, how do I tell what the issue is?

I talked to one of them who had never heard of that problem before and couldnt help. I went into Safe Mode in Firefox, and tried installing the addon there. The one in question required a restart, so I did that, and restarted normally rather than Safe Mode, and the addon had been installed and works fine. This doesn't explain why this happens, but it does offer a way to get around it if others have the issue.

Everything at the add-ons site is signed. Check with the support sites for those add-ons.

That was very good work. Well done.
