How can I switch back to non-private browsing?

Seems Firefox changed it permanently and I can't find my presets for websites I visit. Normally I click on the + and windows of frequented websites are shown to choose from. Now I just get the Firefox window promoting private browsing. Frustrating my day!

Could you try launching a new window from the menu, or press Command+n? Does that window behave normally?

If that also is a private window, could you check your Privacy Preferences:

"3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences

In the left column, click Privacy.

On the right side, if the selector is set to "Firefox will: Never remember history" change that to "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history".

Then uncheck the box for "Always use private browsing mode" and let Firefox restart itself.

Success?
