I am not able to install lightning 4.7 on thunderbird 45.0: after I restart thunderbird once the installation is finished, the add-on is not really installed

Good morning,

I have thunderbird 45.0 and I'm trying to install lightning 4.7 to sync my google calendar. I have l already downloaded the 'provider for google calendar' add-on and it worked fine. When I do the same thing for lightning, I don't get the same result. Once I complete the download and installation, I restart Thunderbird as suggested, but I still get the message: 'Lightning will be installed after you restart Thunderbird'. It's like it can never complete the installation. I have tried to re-install lightning many times, with also different versions, but no results.

Is there anything else I can do?

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards

Matteo Verdun

A rare problem 1. please backup/copy your entire profile https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_backing-up-a-profile for later analysis 2. With Thunderbird shut down, delete the entire "extensions" directory from the profile. (calendar data is not in the extensions directory) 3. start thunderbird and reinstall any addons that you want to continue to use.

Please tell us results.

Wayne thank you very much for your suggestion but unfortunately it didn't work. I deleted the extension folder and then re-opened Thunderbird, re-downloaded and re-installed lightning, but after I restarted Thunderbird I still got the same message that I should restart to install Lightning.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

You may try that again with your anti-virus software disabled.

I disabled kaspersky and repeated the same procedure but still no result. I'm starting to think there's no way I can install lightning on my thunderbird!
