My firefox is using a lot of data (and I don't know how)...
We have high data usage, in fact in the past 5 days we've used 6 GB of data... I don't understand where this is being used. We don't upload/download much, rarely watch videos, etc. I'm just trying to figure out where this data is being used. On my laptop it states firefox has used 6.3 GB of data in the past 30 days. Is that high? Thanks!

Just lost everything I typed..... Ok Windows 10 is a hog it share constant data with Microsoft with camera, typing, emails, location, software, Cortina, everything on your Start Menu talks to who ever, weather app, you name it it goes out as well you share your downloads/updates with others via torrent if not turned off. Go to same place http://www.howtogeek.com under Win 10 read and turn off everything and uninstall everything you do not need or use. It uninstalls from the start menu, some programs do. Use Spybot Anti-Beacon https://www.safer-networking.org/spybot-anti-beacon/ and 0 & O Shutup https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10 These just control Microsoft Win 10 no other programs, well maybe, not read all. I use them. Also can get a Win7 Start Menu/Button with Classic Shell http://www.classicshell.net/ if like will have both menus then. I have nothing left on my Win10 Start Menu, I do not even use Cortina as I like my privacy. So Win10 is a major, Major bandwidth eater especially if have Updates Shared which is recommended to be turned off on laptops and on metered bandwidth by ISP. So give all that a shot and see what happens with monitoring.

Please Update to Firefox version 45 Help then About
"On my laptop it states firefox has used 6.3 GB of data in the past 30 days."
What type of program is that? Like maybe something provided by your internet service provider? Are you sure that program isn't measuring all data transfer to & from that laptop? Or in the case of a program from your internet service provider, all data for all devices on that modem connection?
Now, if it measures all data transfer to & from that laptop, are you connected to a "cloud" service for data backup or storage? That would be part of the "total". And what about Windows 10 updates? Those too, would be part of the "total". And what about daily Security Suite / Anti-Virus updates? Those could occur anytime that laptop is running and connected to the internet; and I have gotten multiple updates per day with my anti-virus application. True, they're usually rather updates, but they do add up.
In the system settings there is a data usage overview (usage details)- that's where it states the 6.3 GB. I did update to Windows 10 recently, possibly the 30 day span includes that update. Thanks for both these responses! I've been busy cleaning up whatever/however I can on the devices we use. It's admittedly a mess.
Everything is updated in regard to Firefox as well.
As far as I can tell- everything is working "cleanly". I have no Cloud connections unless it's happening without my knowledge. We live in the country, so the likelihood of someone tapping in is minute. I have had a "IP address" prompt come up lately. "There is more than one computer with this IP address"...Again, thanks for helping out!
