Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to solve this problem. Video on Vine or Twitter don't work. It seems lots of people have a similar problem but none of the solutions given worked for me.

First things, I'm on Windows 10 N which means that no media player is installed. I downloaded the windows media foundation package, installed it and restarted my computer but it still didn't solved my problem.

I refreshed Firefox and checked my plugins, they are all up to date.

Video on Youtube or Daylimotion work fine, it seem to be specific to MP4 format.

If anybody can help me I would be very grateful.

Thank you.

Hello, try the media.play-stand-alone to false (double-click on it), any luck ?

thank you

the media.fragmented-mp4.enabled is it true ? (the default)

EDIT: and the media.mediasource.mp4.enabled also, true ?

I know Win 8 and 10 have their own players. But does Firefox access it?

Sorry for the delay. ideato: Yes, both of them are on true. FredMcD : The problem with the N version of Windows is that is comes WITHOUT any media player... That's why installing the windows media foundation package is required to play any media. However, this doesn't seem to work for me.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

https://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

I don't have problems with the Flash plugin. It's more a problem withe the absence of windows media player I think.

I don't know if that would be a problem unless you have no players on your system. I don't mean a Plugin.

Give this a try; www.videolan.org/

See also "Excluded features". Media feature pack for Windows 10 N and Windows 10 KN editions:

I have already installed the media feature pack but I still can't find it in Firefox.

On Windows 10 this media feature pack doesn't include H.264 codec support as you can read in the article, so Firefox will still not be able to play H.264 encoded media.

Well, this must be the reason why I can't play mp4 or vines in Firefox. So, is there a work around this problem? Are there any codec or a plugin that I can install?
