This happened after update to version 38.2.0 in Ubuntu14.04. I can get mails but I cannot send them. The error message suggest to "Verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again". I did it and I could not find anything wrong. The Thunderbird error console says: Error: An error occurred during a connection to xxx.xx.xx:25. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long). Thanks!

So your server is using SSL certificates with what sort and size encryption?

I think your caught up in the fix for logJam. But instead of the shorter ciphers being the issue your server is responding with only ciphers that are huge. The standard is now 2048 up from 512. following the LogJam fix.

Perhaps this will assist if your the server administrator https://weakdh.org/sysadmin.html

Thanks Mat! I'm not the mail administrator, so I moved your answer to him. I'll be back to the list as soon as I get an answer. The only thing I now about the server is that it is an Exchange 2003.

Hi! the certificate signature algorithm is: PKCS #1 SHA-1 With RSA Encryption; and the size is 2048 bits
