over the last month on my home computer, mozilla and thunderbird were both automatically updated. After the update I could not log on the internet or check email. To correct the problem I restored my computer to a previous date about a month ago. After I restored the computer I could then get on the internet and get emails until the next day or so when I assume the programs were once again updated. I restored again and the computer was normal for a day.

This repeated until tonight when my current email account and all my saved emails are gone. What can I do to get the emails back and what can I do to stop the problem from occuring

There is some possibility that you have more than one profile. Look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_how-to-find-your-profile and then look in the same directory to see if there is another ********.default file.

If so, see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles to switch to the other profile.
