Will you ever add Sync to Thunderbird like you have for Firefox, so I don't have to recreate all my custom settings when I install on a new/different computer?

I am just wondering if Thunderbird will ever get the Sync option like Firefox has so when I get a new computer I can just install Thunderbird and login to my Thunderbird Sync account and it will automatically install all my add-ons, Sort Order & View preferences, appearance theme, etc. Will that ever happen? I do not care about email account settings, just Thunderbird profile preferences and settings.

Short answer is NO. My mail profile is some 20Gb in size. I just can not see Mozilla providing that sort of space for me for free. Can you?

Nor do I want to have per Mb charges from my internet provider to upl;oad and download all that either.

The reality is this. Type into the start menu/Search box %appdata%\Roaming and press enter Select the Thunderbird folder and copy to a usb drive. On you new machine repeat and reverse the copy, but also place a copy in %appdata%\local.

Sync complete, no web presence, no copy of your data in anyone elses hands, and it is a complete copy, not a bit here and part of that which invariably messes up.

Thank you for taking the time to reply Matt. I appreciate it.

I just hope the instructions are concise enough to follow. It appear exceedingly simple to me, but not to others has been my experience.
