Thunderbird 115.3.1 not marking all emails as 'read' when opened.

In ver 115.3.1 clicking on an email no longer always marks it as 'read'. Some emails require clicking the 'read' column. How do I return to marking as 'read' when clicked?

In ver 115.3.1 clicking on an email no longer always marks it as 'read'. Some emails require clicking the 'read' column. How do I return to marking as 'read' when clicked?

Check settings>general under Reading & Display to see if the box is ticked.

I have it set to mark as read immediately when cliked. And most messages respond this way but SOME are NOT marked as read immediately. Why would this be and how do I stop this behavior?
