I have been using Thunderbird for 25 years now. I downloaded latest version this afternoon but have no clue how long it has been available or what version I had prior to downloading 91.11.0 I use imap.ionos.com and smtp.ionos.com for a really long time. Problem is I had a lot of subfolders with many emails in each one I can see on my ionos.com log into site using Firefox but not anymore with Thunderbird 91.11.0 and current version of Firefox. There are only like 5 usual folders of I received an email from ionos yesterday saying.

"One or more of your devices or email programs are currently accessing our email servers unencrypted or using the TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 encryption protocols. This includes connections using SMTP (for sending emails) and/or POP3/IMAP (for receiving emails). Both unencrypted access and connections using the outdated TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 encryption protocols no longer meet current security standards. To protect your email communications, these connections to our email servers will no longer be possible as of 08/09/2022. What does this mean for you? The following email accounts were accessed without encryption: my email address is here *****@*******.com I block letters and numbers. Please make sure that encryption (SSL/TLS) is enabled in your devices or programs. We have summarized how to adjust the settings for some popular email programs in the IONOS Help Center. The following email accounts were accessed with TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1:

            • @********.com

For email connections between your devices or programs and our email servers to continue working after deactivation, they must support TLS 1.2 or higher."

I really like Thunderbird. Please tell me what is wrong and how to fix. And I called Ionos.com and they could not help with Thunderbird or with TLS 1.2 or higher. Please.

Ever since version 78, Thunderbird has been supporting TLS v1.2, so it is very much up to date. In fact you would have needed to alter some preferences in order to use an out of date protocol. Quote: Thunderbird 78 will not connect to servers that do not support the modern (over ten years old) TLS 1.2 connection security protocol. If your email provider only supports the outdated security protocols TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1, then downloading (receiving) and sending emails will not work. If you need to connect to mail servers with outdated security, or if you want to check if this is the cause of your problem, you can temporarily re-enable the older security protocols in Thunderbird

To check what server settings you are currently using please post the following information:

Menu app icon ≡ > Help > More Troubleshooting Information 'Mail and News Accounts' section Copy all the text and paste it into a 'Post a Reply' text box in this forum question. We can then check the settings you are currently using to make sure you are using the secure settings as advised by ionos. If necessary, I'll offer specific advise on how and what to change.

Hi Toad-Hill, This is a reply to your reply. First let me thank you. Thank you. I could not find Mail and news access in below link. From what I read Thunderbird 102 has TLS 1.2 though I have no clue whether or not I am now. Part of this problem is me not seeing files from previous emails in my folder after downloading TB 102. It is a long story. had to delete my email account and then reinstalled files I had saved to my Ionos account then delete all files in account and open it again with new folders. I real pain. Going to ask person who sent me that email if my email account is now covered by TLS 1.2 tomorrow. Thanks for replying. Below is top of page I was looking for Mail & News access whole page.

Image shows you are in correct location. The 'Applications Basics' section is at the top. Below it should be the 'Mail and News Accounts' section. It will mention account id, name of account, connection security, authenication method.

The information will show what ionos server settings you are using so we can check you are using a secure connection.
