When I synced my Firefox Android with my Firefox on my Laptop, it deleted all my mobile bookmarks?

So basically my laptop was broken and I was only using my phone for bookmarking things for awhile. When I got my laptop back I synced my phone and my mobile bookmarks appeared on both my laptop and phone. No problem.

Then, I tried to add some old bookmarks onto my laptop from an HTML file I had as a backup on a passport hardrive. The bookmarks added in to firefox no problem.

But then I noticed that ALL my mobile bookmarks were gone. I thought maybe i had made a mistake and adding the html backup deletes current bookmarks but it definitely doesn't, it just adds the ones on file.

So, what happened? Is there any way to get those bookmarks back?

Is there really no fixes to this? I mean I know it's only been a week but I was hoping at least one person would be able to help...

Ouch! Very sorry on both fronts. For the loss of mobile bookmarks & no reply til now.

Personally I have a strong distrust of syncing bookmarks on any browser service including Google's because I am very worried that one of the many devices will go crazy in situations as you've described. Where one device is offline for a while & the other is used for bookmarking but when you finally reactivate the other device, the device out of the loop decides to replace the latest data with its older data. Very frustrating.

I believe I was told in the past this was very rare but I will ask the developers again to see if that's right. As well as to see what are the alternatives to recover bookmarks on mobile. I don't think they're recoverable once they're gone but there was a plan for a developer to write a addon that would allow users to export their mobile bookmarks for backup & reimport purposes. I will ask about that too. I remember wanting this feature so badly I was willing to pay the developer to write it. :P

Were you also using the latest version of Firefox for Android when this happened? Please check the version in your Settings > Apps area. See: http://gadgetguideonline.com/android/android-marshmallow-guide/how-to-use-application-manager-in-android-marshmallow/

Also do the mobile bookmarks still exist on the laptop at least? If so, there are bookmark backups there. But it's tricky b/c if the mobile bookmarks disappeared from your laptop on the same day they synced with the phone, Firefox may not have been able to create a backup of it in time. Check this guide anyway to have a look: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-bookmarks-from-backup-or-move-them

The backups will be dated so you can tell which day they were from.
