Text is too small to read. How do I make it larger?

I am running Firefox 4.8.0 under Android 4.1.2,

My problem is that the text on web pages always looks much too small. Most of the time it is quite hard to read. The same text looks fine on Chrome on the same device.

I have tried going to Settings / Accessibility / Text Size. But this only shows two options: tiny and medium, both of which are very small. I have also tried both settings for "Always enable zoom", but this makes no difference. (I can make the text larger by pinching outwards on the page, but this means that I have to scroll horizontally, which is a nuisance.)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Mike

The way it looks on my phone is this:

[ A ] [ A ]

Clicking the left one makes the font smaller, clicking the right one makes it bigger. Tap the right one four times to change the size to Extra large.

Thanks for your prompt reply, Grad. It didn't occur to me that you have to tap the buttons multiple times to vary the font size. I took your advice, and set the size to "very large".

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I still see the text in a very small size. In fact, no matter what I set the size to in the settings screen, it seems to make no difference to the actual size of the text. (I didn't forget to touch the Save button after making a change.)

The behaviour I am seeing is consistent across all web pages. And all the pages I've checked look correct in my other browser (Chrome).

If you have any further suggestions, I'd be very grateful.

Mike
