Why, when I open Firefox, do I get, "a malacious web page in Firefox threatens the security of my computer"?

con't. The web page is //crazyscore-a.akamaihd.net/CrazyScore/fb. My kaspersky program detects this web page and blocks it. When I close Firefox, and reopen it, the web page reopens and gets blocked again. Please explain.

That is a scam and you can ignore it.

Can't you close this tab with a double-click or otherwise?

Firefox will automatically try to restore the tabs and windows from the last session if a crash has occurred or Firefox didn't close properly the previous time. You can set the browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes pref to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first start after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.

That way you see if the previous session didn't close properly or crashed and will allow you to deselect the tab(s) that you do not want to reopen, but will allow to reopen other tabs.

If you can't start Firefox then you can add this line to the prefs.js file to prevent Firefox from restoring the previous session automatically.

  • user_pref("browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes", 0);

Do you have the Firefox icon on your quick launch? Right click on it, and select Open New Window. Sometimes this works. If it opens, close it by Menu > File > Exit.

This is not a cure but will make it easier if Firefox locks up in Windows. https://support.mozilla.org/questions/997866 {web link}

If it's like the fake FBI/Interpol browser lock page, This add-on can stop such pages; disallow Script Button {web link} The Disallow Script button looks like a letter "M" and the title is the Minus Script, drag and drop the button on a toolbar. If the button is not displayed then nothing operates, except rules for plugins.
