Firefox crashes

When there was a version 3.5 I liked firefox because it had easy tabbed browsing and there where a lot of extensions made by others (not by mozilla itself).

Now I am using Firefox 18 and it crashes all the time, so you are going to remind me to update firefox to version 38 or is it upgraded already to version 120.

What I mean is this, firefox updates more in one week then Microsoft updates in a year and still keeps on crashing some 5 times a day.

So if I where a mozilla developer(?) I should get the hell out of this internet browsers business and find a new developing area where i could work on.

In other words firefox is just CRASHING CRAP THAT NEEDS TO BE DISCONTINUED FOREVER.

A BUNCH OF CRAP DEVELOPERS THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE OVER THERE, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE MEANING IS OF

BEING STABLE!!!!!!!!!

Let me start by saying that support volunteers are not the Firefox developers and it's not that helpful to get angry here in the forum.

Let me assume you want to get Firefox working. If not, you can stop reading now.

Are you getting the Mozilla Crash Reporter dialog, or the Windows crash dialog? If you are getting the Mozilla Crash Reporter form, your Firefox may have logged some data that would help track down the cause of the problem. You can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the last section of the support article "Firefox Crashes" for steps to get those crash IDs from the about:crashes page, and then post some of the recent ones here.

Also and/or meanwhile, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • (Firefox 29+) "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh/Reset).

Any less crashy?

Also, the current version is Firefox 39. A new "major" version is released approximately every 6 weeks, so we might never get to version 120...
