You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can check for issues caused by plugins and set plugins to "Ask to Activate" on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" page (plugins are not affected by Firefox Safe Mode)

Some of your crash reports weren’t sent to the Mozilla Servers.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it and select Submit.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

The four linked crash reports are very diverse. The only commonality appears to be that between 50% and 54% of system memory was in use. I wonder whether there might be a memory hardware issue that Firefox keeps stumbling over? Windows XP didn't include a memory diagnostic, but your security software suite might have one. If not, you can use the open source memtest86 or memtest86+ tool. Those are little more involved because you need to have them run at boot time instead of Windows.

Something to maybe look into later if no other explanation turns up.

ok, here is a bigger list, i hope this helps, thanks in advance! bp-cfc62080-3761-4ceb-836f-ac95c2150608 6/7/2015 8:57 PM bp-ce75eaa0-da89-4215-948e-8da7b2150608 6/7/2015 7:37 PM bp-bcaf03db-411e-41a5-b055-e494f2150607 6/7/2015 6:39 PM bp-3572a894-a787-496a-a0bf-696db2150607 6/7/2015 6:19 PM bp-f375706d-aed1-4380-8298-4ae412150607 6/7/2015 4:56 PM bp-0493780d-b9a2-44ba-a664-8e93e2150607 6/7/2015 3:49 PM bp-1523e612-bfef-4ba0-b6e2-f14402150607 6/7/2015 9:36 AM bp-c29e272a-59a3-4708-8eb4-4b3822150607 6/7/2015 9:23 AM bp-5e8b01f1-715b-48bc-b875-4d4f42150607 6/7/2015 9:20 AM bp-d4306118-a14b-4133-895e-6c65f2150607 6/7/2015 9:19 AM bp-bb8b26e3-55b8-44df-b4c9-fc8b62150607 6/6/2015 10:56 PM be451b24-8fc1-4d00-ab9e-6deef70e58cd 6/6/2015 8:57 PM bp-b10d0ea2-ca7d-4407-bfea-9700e2150607 6/6/2015 8:01 PM bp-68aa6eef-aadd-4526-9538-eb0e52150606 6/6/2015 6:57 PM bp-4644916b-b8fc-4d94-b469-a4ebc2150606 6/6/2015 6:56 PM bp-d94fc9e9-8c95-4b52-910e-011862150606 6/6/2015 6:55 PM bp-630ceef9-b362-4d9b-bbe1-3e0af2150606 6/6/2015 4:19 PM bp-fe4a9df6-7b4a-425e-9b9f-eb9d32150606

Hmm, more diversity. A few definitely are related to the JavaScript compilers. Did you try running for a few hours in Firefox's Safe Mode to see whether Firefox is stable there? Safe Mode disables the JavaScript compilers.

You might also try pausing the avast! Web Shield feature for a time and see whether that makes any difference. I saw the steps on a "fan site":

http://www.getavast.net/support/turn-off-shields (section 2.1)

Thanks to all of you for your advice and help. I had turned off avast earlier and followed cor el's advice from up top, I ran this evening for about 4 hours with no problems and thought i had this thing beat when these two just shut me down back to back:

did some more reading and pulled this off the crash report, if this helps??? It was under related bugs

Hi mark103701, both of those crashes referenced using the JavaScript just-in-time (JIT) compiler. You might try running in Firefox's Safe Mode for a time to see whether Firefox is stable there (the compilers are disabled in Safe Mode).
