I accidentally updated to firefox for aol and want to remove it and return to the plain old firefox.
I was having trouble with AOL and clicked the AOL specific update for Firefox. Now I have the AOL version of Firefox. I do not want this version of Firefox but I don't know how to restore the previous version without losing all of my stored data, i.e. bookmarks. My biggest problem with this version is that every time I open a new tab the AOL homepage appears. I have changed my default homepage back to google but AOL still opens with every new tab. Any help is greatly appreciated.

AOL can customize Firefox by adding a toolbar to your browser.
To remove this follow these steps:
- At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
- In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
- Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
- Click the remove button.
- Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.
After Firefox restarts, you may need to install and run the Search Reset Tool to remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.
