I cannot open new widows or tabs when I click on links, among other odd things (such as a huge list of items showing up on my right click list). When I start in safe mode, things work just fine, but when I start normally, I just have a blank page for the extensions tab of my add ons window. I cannot disable the culprit if I cannot see it.

There was something about this someone else asked, but the answer they found that worked for them did not show up in the list of answers provided. I just recently uninstalled firefox 18 and when I reinstalled it was at firefox 20, if that matters.

hello, maybe the files in your profile folder that store the information about your extensions might have become corrupted. please go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile - show folder... then windows explorer should open up your profile folder. in there look for the files named extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite, extensions.sqlite-journal (and in some cases also extensions.txt, extensions.rdf). delete or rename those files and quit firefox, they will be regenerated the next time you launch firefox.

Corrupt extension files

as an alternative you could also try to reset firefox and see if this addresses the issue...
