FF 5.0 is set up to use system proxy settings. In IE internet options on Connections tab I specified proxy in VPN connection settings (not in LAN settings). Problem: when I connect to VPN Firefox can't load any page. But if I just start Internet Explorer (even without opening any web page), Firefox starts opening all sites successfully. The similar issue exists when I disconnect VPN: FF seems to continue use proxy and fail to open pages. But once I start IE it gets correct proxy configuration and starts working again. Any help appreciated.

The default "Use the system proxy settings" setting doesn't always work properly on Windows XP and in such a case it is better to select "No proxy".

You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy"

See "Firefox connection settings":

The point is to avoid changing proxy settings each time I connect/disconnect VPN, but do it automatically as IE does. Do you mean in Win7 it works fine?
