How can I optimize my Firefox browser in Linux?

Over time since I have been using Firefox in Linux it seems like Firefox has run slower and slower and is now able to handle less data than before. My browser slows down and videos wont play clean. The more videos I play the slower my browser gets until it finally hangs and then crashes. The same thing happens even if I do not watch many videos. I used to be able to open over 100 tabs and firefox was fine. Now if I get 30 - 40 tabs open firefox will get severely slowed and eventually hang and crash. I do not know what to do about this problem. I was told linux does not need antivirus software but I do run a firewall. I don't know if I could have some kind of virus but something definately slows down my system much more than when I was running off a fresh install. Please help. I need to know if there is a way to optimize my firefox in Linux. I need to know if there is a secret cache that can be cleared. Currently the only things I have done that seem to help a little are killing the plugin container process or raising the priority of firefox in my system monitor when I get over 40 tabs open.

This can be a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

You will have to redo App Tabs and Tab Groups after deleting sessionstore.js.

You can also try to clear all the history by resetting places.sqlite
