I recently updated a flash plugin and now it keeps slowing down followed by a crash and then a report that there was some kind of problem with a "plugin container." What should I do?

I recently updated a flash plugin and now it keeps slowing down followed by a crash and then a report that there was some kind of problem with a "plugin container." I also noticed since that update an adobe acrobat updater of some kind keeps turning up in my taskbar and asking me to update (I think it's for my acrobat reader?) without giving me the option to decline. What should I do?
