Today when I opened thunderbird it said that it could not find the folders that my message filters use, and would be disabling the filters. Everything is gone

The folders and the contents of each are entirely missing from Thunderbird. I cannot find the emails using search. I can still see the folders in Thunderbird>Profiles>(myprofile)>ImapMail>(myaccount)>INBOX but there is no sign of them nor their contents in Thunderbird itself. How can I get back the data that has gone missing?

Also, what caused this to happen in the first place? The only thing I know for sure is that they were there yesterday, because I was sorting emails into the missing folders. But today now they are gone. I am desperately hoping that those emails haven't just disappeared forever, there was a lot of very important information contained within.

All imap mail accounts need to subscribe to see any imap folder.

  • Right click on imap mail account in Folder pane and select 'Subscribe'.

A small window opens showing a list of imap folders.

  • Select the folders and click on 'Subscribe' button
  • click on Ok

Make a backup copy of:Thunderbird>Profiles>(myprofile)>ImapMail>(myaccount)> folder first. Thunderbird must be closed before creating the backup.

then try subscribing to see folders.

Also post image of what you see here: I can still see the folders in Thunderbird>Profiles>(myprofile)>ImapMail>(myaccount)> inbox
