not receiving confirmation email and downloads are saving in wrong location and with the wrong extension
In the last couple of days, Firefox has started to save my download files in my download folder even after I direct it to save somewhere else. Also, all my downloads are being saved as sendcontent.php even though the file being downloaded has a different name and a different extension. For example, I download a file with the name: hole_hand_thumbs_up_800_clr_5983.png and instruct it to be downloaded to my desktop, but Firefox then downloads it to my download folder and changes the name to sendcontent.php

I think I have resolved the issue. I had the add-on Ninja Download Manager installed. I have removed it, and now the downloads seem to be working properly.
Thank you for your help

Are you using any download manager programs/add-ons? Are you using preferences to change where to download? Or are you changing the location in the download window?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
The file name sendcontent.php sounds like a script a site may be using to force a download for content that Firefox otherwise would display in a tab.
Could you check whether you have any content types set to save immediately rather than prompting you for a folder. Here's where I suggest looking:o
- Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
- Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
- Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
- Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it
Scroll down to the Files and Applications section. In the box listing how Firefox handles various kinds of downloads, do you see any that are set to "Save File"? If so, I suggest changing those to "Always ask" and then trying the download again.
Any difference?
^Please do answer those questions and do post back if it does not do this in Safe Mode.
Two other questions I have are, does this happen with one site or all sites? and if you delete the file in your profile that manages the General > Applications Preferences. (It is called handlers.json )
Thank you for your help. I downloaded an image from another website and it downloaded the correct file format. ISS_0893_06668.jpg and saved it in my download folder. However, before I saved the file I changed the name to "Lady holding a flower pot and asked it to save to my desktop. The name was changed and so was the location.
Hi again, I just downloaded the hole_hand_thumbs_up_800_clr_5983.png file again in safe mode and it downloaded correctly and in the correct location.
So how can I identify what is causing this issue?
Thanks again.

Do any of your extensions potentially relate to downloading or to images? You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
- type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return
In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.
Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything download-related to image-related, or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove).
Any improvement?
