Platform is Window10 64bit in a corporate network. We have installed Firefox version 50 then version 52 both had the same issue with some PCs. We have several issues: 1> Firefox startup page is blank and hung on some PCs 2> Firefox very slow for some Websites. We can temporary fix issue by either: 3> Rollback to Firefox version 45 4> Stop security service xagt (FireEye) for product FireEye HX Agent - Exploit Detection module and then Firefox works again. Any ideas will be appreciated e.g. what has changed in Firefox code to cause this.... Thanks

If you use Windows 10 and Malwarebytes then you might be experiencing a conflict between Firefox's multi-process feature and the Malwarebytes Exploit Protection feature. You can do either of these to see if that has effect. (1) Malwarebytes: turn off Real-Time Protection -> Exploit Protection (2) Firefox: turn off multi-process in Firefox

You can disable multi-process windows in Firefox by setting these prefs to false on the about:config page.

  • browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false
  • browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
