My computer goes blue screen of death sometimes when playing a video on youtube via Firefox. This does not happen all the time, and doesn't necessarily happen at the start of the video.

I have upgraded Firefox, Windows, drivers, Flash to the latest version.

I have disabled hardware acceleration on Flash.

I have selected HTML5 in the youtube settings.

This is the error that I get on restart:

Also please:

  1. Start tapping the F8 key after you press the ON button, and continue tapping until you are presented with the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" screen.
  2. Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to select "Disable automatic restart on system failure" and press the <ENTER> key.
  3. Your system will attempt to restart normally, but when it crashes, it will not re-start: Instead, you will see a BSOD with error message.
  4. Record the error message details, and post in this thread.

It looks like you have done this. Is there a chance you can check the task in the Task manager that is running.

Please check your system for malware. Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

I already have microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes installed and running. This is not an issue with another program or malware, because it specifically only occurs when Firefox is playing a video, there is no such issue when using Chrome or IE.

Playing Videos in HD is known to cause problems, If your not using HD, then do what guigs2 said.

Firefox is what is called a User Space Application (for application software), it alone cannot cause a BSOD. Bluescreen can only be caused by Kernel Space applications (like your Firewall and most device drivers). While these applications may have hooks into Firefox that are buggy, Firefox by itself can't cause a bluescreen.

It seems to be a combination of the video card driver and Firefox, as it happens when I play videos on Firefox, but not when I play something on VLC or through Chrome, IE ...

I'm running a Sapphire Radeon HD7770 card if that helps.
