I've read Firefox can terminate a plugin if it works wrong. Is there a way for a user to do that without exiting Firefox?

I found this Firefox support page http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/The%20Adobe%20Flash%20plugin%20has%2..., where it says Firefox can terminate a plugin. However, the only way I know for users to terminate plugins is either terminating plugin-container.exe (dangerous) or exiting Firefox.

I know the answer is most likely "no", but, is there a way for users to terminate individual plugins? Exiting Firefox is not an option, since I tend to experiment tab loss even if I save them on exit. The problem is Flash plugin, which usually ends up consuming 30% of my CPU and about 500MB of RAM.

You can disable the Flash plugin in Tools > Add-ons > Plugins
That should terminate all Flash plugin processes.
You can re-enable the Flash plugin at any time when needed.

If you still have the plugin-container process after closing the offending tab then you can probably kill that plugin-container process without problems.
