Uninstall problem
Firefox uninstall problem (long story)
Months ago, I was running 3.5. I received a notice about 3.6 beta. I updated to 3.6 beta. I didn't like it. I uninstalled 3.6, downloaded 3.5 and reinstalled it. I was happy again.

I received a small alert that a update was available for Firefox. Unthinkingly, I went to help, search for updates and downloaded and installed 3.6.3. Dumb.
I still didn't like it. AND Roboform had been disabled. I was now helpless because I have 'many' passwords on 'many' websites. So I found a site for 3.5.9 and downloaded it. When I went to Vista to uninstall Firefox and I found only 3.5.9 available for an uninstall.
So I opened Firefox to check for the current release installed. It was 3.6.3. Curious.
So I uninstalled Firefox 3.5.9 using Revo Uninstaller in safe mode, thinking it would remove the Firefox that was running on my system. I verified that the Vista no longer showed Firefox 3.5.9 was not on the list of installed programs. I was surprised that Mozilla Firefox still appeared on Start/Programs list. It also appeared on my quick launch taskbar. AND it opened. Shocking. So I checked the version on About and it said it was running 3.6.3. Huh?
So I looked for an uninstall.exe in the path. There IS a folder that says uninstall. But there is no uninstall.exe...just a helper.exe, which will not run. So I checked Revo Uninstaller and IT couldn't find any Mozilla Firefox on my system. The closest program was Mozilla Thunderbird.
So I initiated a restore point. (Lots of “so's, huh? Ironic.) Now I'm back to a 3.5.9 in my Vista control panel/programs section as being available for an uninstall and a 3.6.3 version running from my desktop. And I still can't use Roboform. And now I have a invisible Firefox. How do I get rid of thing?

The Roboform people didn't supply the Firefox 3.6 version of their Firefox adapter to the official addons website so that adpater won't automatically update for Firefox 3.6 versions. Install the Roboform adapter for Firefox 3.0 - 3.7a1pre from here: http://www.roboform.com/browsers.html
You want the one under Firefox, Mozilla and Netscape. Browser Version XPI file to use if not installed automatically Firefox 3.0 - 3.7a1pre Installed Automatically (roboform-firefox-3.0-frozen.xpi)
Or, you can install it with this link: http://www.roboform.com/dist/roboform-firefox-3.0-frozen.xpi
Thanks, I now have Roboform working now. But I'm am still left with the problem of uninstalling Firefox. If I uninstall the version that shows up in control panel/programs (3.5.9), it is removed. But version 3.6.3 remains on my system and still runs. And there doesn't seem to be a way of removing it.
