Windows 7 PC using Firefox 69 On some websites I am not asked by FF whether I want to save the user name and password, so they are not in the list under "Privacy and Security". I do not use the master Password tool. Is it possible to manually add such user info to the list, perhaps using a text editor ?

Hi,

I'm not a user of the password manager in Firefox anymore, and this issue your describing was the main reason for me looking at alternative solutions. So my response is sort of irrelevant?

However, I suggest using a third party password manager that offers this feature. I recommend Bitwarden as it is opensource and free, it has apps for Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, and Mac, as well as browser extensions. It also has some nice optional paid features for cheap, and has the ability to be self-hosted.

Hi Helvetica.

It's not possible in this version. But in 70 or 71 the Firefox Password Manager will be exchanged with Lockwise, which has this functionality.

Bitwarden is also a recommend suggestion.

To assist further with this suggestion you can install Firefox Beta (currently 70.0) here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/channel/desktop/#beta

Thank you for your replies. So it's a good job that I keep all 8 A4 pages full of passwords, which I write down, in a safe place in my desk. I don't like using any kind of password software which needs one master pw, because glitches are always possible and if that goes pear-shaped, then you lose the lot... I will wait for FF 70 but don't really fancy trying a Beta version. Last time I tried a FF Beta version (admittedly a loooong time ago, like version 4.0 or something) I lost all my links ("bookmarks"), passwords, history etc..
