6. Caution: Restoring bookmarks from a backup will overwrite your current set of bookmarks with the ones in the backup file. How can I merge bookmak files?
I have gone to many posts for locating backups of bookmarks. My Windows 10 blew up because of a Microsoft bug. MS Support had me do a clean reinstall of Windows 10 Pro Feature level 1709. I had to reinstall all of my applications including FF. I now have Firefox Quantum 59.0.2. I have many months of bookmarks in the previous Firefox application prior to having to reinstall Windows 10 and Firefox. I have had to run for a while creating many new bookmarks in the new Firefox. Looking at the post to restore bookmarks from a backup file is this caution note. "Caution: Restoring bookmarks from a backup will overwrite your current set of bookmarks with the ones in the backup file.Bookmarks from backup."
This note that I found is going to cause me many problems as I need the new bookmarks as well as the old backup bookmarks. This note says there is no way to merge the 2 bookmark files together. Is that true and has someone out there created their own fix program to do this?

My bookmarks are still messed up and I am confused about how I can get to my old bookmarks and somehow merge them into the bookmarks that I have created since I did the clean install of Windows 10. Can anyone help me with this problem? I have years of old bookmarks and I do not want to lose them. I would think that this would be a common problem and that the tech heavies at FF have a solution. Can I talk to someone on my nickle to get some help. At 81 I'm a bit slow typing with 1 finger as I am a paraplegic and only partial use of left arm.
If you would happen to have a bookmarks.html file from any web browser, that type file can be imported into Firefox and it would append (add to) any existing bookmarks.
My suggestion is to create a new Firefox Profile and restore your .json bookmark backups to that Profile.
Once that is done go back into the Library window in that Profile and use Export Bookmarks to HTML and save that file to where you can find it. I use the Desktop to save files such that when they're not going to be permanently on the Desktop.
Then close Firefox and open the original Profile, and use Import Bookmarks from HTML with that saved bookmarks.html file.
