Active window doesn't open after youtube video stops playing

With the new version (57?) while keeping firefox playing youtube video in the background and using other programs, after the video has stopped playing firefox window doesn't re-open. It shows in the start bar as active but doesn't come up even after minimizing other programs. On right click>close option FF asks if it's ok to close the program with multiple tabs still open. The problem might not be connected to youtube specifically but it stands out in the case introduced above.
