My laptop crashed, repairer did not save any settings reinstalled windows and I have now lost my thunderbird password,
I have a personal e mail account with Thunderbird which is now up and running again, but I cannot access my church e mail account as I no longer have the password. The person who set it all up has died. I have an old password which won't work when I try to log in to my church e mail account.ober Any offers of help very gratefully received as I need to access these e mails to me at the church. The repairer did not save any info and it has all been lost since he reinstalled windows (not very helpful!!) Thanks a lot Robert

you have a personal account in Thunderbird, not with Thunderbird. To get you password you will need to contact you mail provider. This may be your ISP or another provider. A good indication is the part of your email address after the @ is the name of your mail provider.
Hi Matt, Thank you for your response, sorry if I misquoted "with" rather than "in", but I am not very computer savvy and a lot of these terms are new to me ! I think I have traced the mail server for the church e mail account. I have contacted them and I am waiting for a reply. I was sure that my church e mails were forwarded to my ISP the same as my personal e mails, but since the laptop crash that has stopped. Shame the repairer didn't back everything up before he reinstalled windows. Sad that my good very savvy freind who set up all these accounts has died (and also a shame that he didn't pass on my Thunderbird password) Equally sad that I didn't have back ups either...live & learn. I hope I can get this sorted, as I had a lot of important chuch e mails stored and hope to restore them once I can get back into my church Thunderbird account. I wonder if the old password I located is not working if someone hacked into the church account and changed it? May seem a daft thing to suggest, but no idea why it is not being accepted now. There have been some strange e mails before this all happened. Thanks again for any help, much appreciated, regards Robert
open windows explorer and look for a file/Folder C:\windows.old
Sometimes windows makes a backup in that location when it is reinstalled.
