how to print an e mail picture in color?
a friend sent me a color picture as an attachment. When I try to print it, it comes out in black and white.

You do need to set the printer to print in colour and not black and white. That is not set in the Thunderbird.
File > Print Preview This should show you what is going to be printed. click on 'Print' to open the Print window. select the Printer of choice click on 'Properties' make necessary changes to what is required. click on OK
