Why doesn't the RSS feed button placed on my navigation toolbar light up when a website has a feed to subscribe to?

And why can't I access the summary feed page instead of only individual feeds? I'm using FF 6.0.1 Thanks!

Hi "cor-el"... Thanks for your help!

I've noticed that at all the sites with RSS feeds that I visit in IE9, the RSS feed icon in the navigation bar lights up. However, when visiting the same sites in FF6.0.1, the icon I placed in the navigation bar does not light up. Here are two examples:

Also, I'm able to access the summary feed pages in IE9, but only individual feeds in FF6.0.1. Is it possible to access the summary page in Firefox??

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Works here fine with those two pages. In Firefox 6.0.1 I see the RSS button enabled and working with both of the links.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I had some time to do some searching about this topic. I discovered that the RSS icon only turns to a darker gray, not orange in this version. But I also discovered that there are add-ons not only to make the icon turn orange, but also to display the feed in summary fashion.

So I installed the add-ons, and voila, all issues have been quickly fixed. Firefox is the beezneez! And FF 6.0.1 will now be my default browser, along with Thunderbird.  :-)
