I recently updated Thunderbird to 101. from a much earlier version, and of course it destroyed all my custom settings. I found most of the addons I had previously were no longer valid. I managed to get a lot of the previous functionality back with settings and other addons, but one still has me stumped. When I bring a message up, I have it set to fully occupy the screen. There are some buttons at the top of the message header I was able to get working, like Reply, Forward, and Delete. But 2 that I use (or use to use) a lot are the Next message, and Previous message buttons. I can't seem to find any way to get them going again. Is there some way to get a link button, or icon for these in the message header?

The release version is V91. In some weeks V101 will be released. But at this time it is still in beta.

I do not have the beta installed. But the daily build I have installed only offers new and next unread on the main window toolbar. Not the message header which is not customizable at all.

Sorry, my release is 100.0b4. I glanced at it and saw the 101 beta update in the About box. Yes the problem is that it does not offer a way to customize Next and Previous buttons in the Message Header. In the previous release, a while back, and before my Update, I did have the buttons there. So I know its possible and doable. I was just wondering if anyone knows how to do it in the new release.

Customizing the message header buttons was pulled out. Back, I think in version 68. We have been on a promise that it would be restored for a number of years now. But I see nothing concrete happening.

Yes, I may well have implemented it previously with a 3rd party addon. I was hoping someone knew of one I could use for the latest release. It seems that tha majority of addons I was using in previous versions no longer work. I guess I just wait and keep my fingers crossed for a new one. This was not the worst thing that happened with the change to the new release. It lost my address book.

I am confused. I have beta 101 and have those buttons, so maybe you're discussing something else? See attached.

David, there was some confusion about the version. I don't have beta 101, but 100.0b4. Also, I do get those buttons on the main screen, but I am talking about on the message header. I have settings so that my message occupies the whole screen, and on the 'message' header, I only get some buttons, but not the Next message, or Previous message buttons. Are you saying those button are there in the beta on the message header?

I guess the technical answer is NO, but as my attached screenshot shows, the buttons are very close to the Message Header, so functionality doesn't seem affected (in my opinion). That was my confusion, as I inferred (incorrectly) that functionality was your concern.

Ahh, yes, you have the message coming up inside the main page. I have the message using the whole page (way I have always done it). I am referring to the buttons on the 'From' line in the message header, which I see are the same as what I am looking at. I suppose I could try changing to have my messages come up on top of the main page if I am really bothered that much by it. if I have my keyboard handy (which it isn't always when accessing remotely) I can just use the 'F' and 'B' keys.
