Thunderbird Mail 31.0, Win 7 Pro 64 bit.

It's obvious that my primary Address Book is corrupt, as I cannot manually add any new addresses to it. My Collected Addresses book doesn't collect any new addresses, either.

I know how to Export my current Address Book to an LDIF file and force T-Bird to create a new empty address book upon closing down and restarting T-Bird. I can then Import the LDIF data back in - but apparently, only to a NEW address book, not into the new Address Book file that Tbird created after I deleted the old, corrupt file, abook.mab. The Imported book data file is called Newbook.ldif

Even if I try to use the New address book,Newbook, I can't add any new addresses to it, manually. The Collected Addresses book still won't add any new addresses from mail that I send.

Ideas? TIA!

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:

  • Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.

Thanks. I tried this, and there is no change in behavior. I can manually right click on a Sent email address and Add to Address Book. The entry is added correctly. But if I close TBird and restart, the new entry is not there anymore. I have no Plugins and no Extensions loaded.
