Why is there a mis-match between 'live' account number and Thunderbird account?
I am using Thunderbird to transfer emails from one gmail account to another as we have exceeded the limit. Why is it that the 'live' gmail account tells me there are 33k messages but Thunderbird reckons there are only 53k messages? This account was created and is used solely for 'old' messages and does not receive other emails.

So Thunderbird thinks it has 20 Thousand more mails that Gmail. That would most certainly be the case is you have the all mail folder synchronized as all mail would be duplicated.
