When trying to open an external link like updating a program firefox says its already running but is not responding how do I fix this?
Basically when I try to update Ccleaner or any other program tries to open a link it shows this error message. Like when I try to start BF3 from origin It shows the error message so I have to open battlelog by typing it into the browser. I dont recall me having this issue on my windows 7 64 bit laptop, but on my windows 7 32 bit desktop I have the problem. Any and all help is appreciated.

Make sure that you do not start Firefox with the -no-remote switch or have set the environment variable MOZ_NO_REMOTE=1 (Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment variables).
I clicked "New version! Click to download..." and this happens. This happens with anything that wants to open something in firefox. not just ccleaner
I dont use multiple profiles I only use one. I dont think i start firefox with no remote or have moz_no_remote=1 in Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment variables, I checked and didnt find anything
Do you still have the profile that is marked in the profiles.ini file as Default=1 ?
Im not sure but i posted a screenshot of my profiles.ini
There is no profile marked in that file.
See if you can start Firefox via the Profile Manager.

I did that and it opens this is what shows.
Can you start Firefox with that profile?
If not then create a new profile.
Do not click the "Choose Folder" button, but only enter a name for the new profile or accept "Default User".
I can start firefox with that profile. Should i try to create a new profile and merge my bookmarks and settings from the default to that one? Also thanks for responding quickly. Much respect to you sir or maam.
I can open firefox normally the only time i get the error is when a program or something tries to open a link in firefox.
That would still suggest that you try to start Firefox with the -no-remote command line switch.
Did you check the target line of the Firefox desktop shortcut?
Yep there is no -noremote command in the target line.
