My old laptop Windows XP computer has died but I was able to save my data. I would like to import all my bookmarks from the old onto my new Windows 7 computer with Firefox 4 installed.

I need to know where the bookmarks are normally stored by Firefox and also how to import. The only import I can see presently is for Internet Explorer.

What format did you save the bookmarks in?

If you saved them in an HTML file, see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Importing+Bookmarks+from+an+HTML+File

If you backed them up to a JSON file, see the restore section here - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Backing+up+and+restoring+bookmarks

If you copied the places.sqlite file from the profile folder on the old computer, you can copy that file to your current profile folder. For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

It seems obvious that the old harddrive is available, the data is on it.....

THE QUESTION IS:

Where on the old hard drive does one find that data that is the bookmarks for firefox.

The data was not saved on a flash drive, or an extra harddrive.

How does one find the files on your old harddrive. Personally I found them but could not import them.
