I am having an issue with a work Outlook email account and thunderbird. The email has a two-step authentication and I need to re-login periodically. After a while, I get an error about too many active connections to the server, and I have to quit thunderbird for a while and then reopen and log back in.

I have read on several sites/forums about changing

--> Tools - Account Settings - [select your account] - Server Settings - [Server Settings section] - Advanced - Maximum number of server connections to cache -

and changing this to 1. However, there is no advanced button for this account on server settings. On a Gmail account I found that option, but for the account in question it does not seem to exist. It seems that this is a Thunderbird setting, so surely I can modify the behavior for this account somewhere?

Sounds like the Outlook account is setup for POP access. That button is not available for POP accounts.

"Too many active connections" could also be caused if you have other devices, phones, tablets etc. connecting to the same account. But in that case, IMAP would be more appropriate. Does this work account use OAuth2 authentication?
