I will point out: OS Security Stopping Updates
On two of the systems I maintain, Firefox was being denied the right to update itself and had to be restarted in Administrator mode to permit the recent certificate fixes to be applied.
Just saying.

What's the computer systems and Firefox versions in question? Were they installed normally, or with the administrator flag?
In these two cases, the FF version was 66.0.2 and the OS is W10.
A W7 machine is currently 66.0.3, so it did not need a restart of FF in Administrator.
Another W10 machine attempted to apply the update and but needed to download TWO updates to get it to 66.0.3, (huh).
Varies according to machine it seems.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version?cache=no Did you update Firefox to the latest version 66.0.4 May 5, 2019 Fixes add-on certificate issue. 66.0.5 May 7, 2019 Further improvements to re-enable web extensions
All machines are at 66.0.5 at the time of this posting, it was just necessary to start FF in Administrator mode on a couple of machines to get it to update. Without doing that, it kept insisting that I restart FF to apply the updates, but the updates could not be applied as a normal user.
Oh, and now stupid program tricks, there was also at least two machines in which the certificate error did not disable the add-ons, go figure.
