I occasionally reorganize my bookmarks, making major changes. Everything is fine for a few months, but then - Firefox suddenly "restores" some of the bookmarks that I moved or deleted - back to the place they were before. This has happened several times, and it always creates a total mess, since the "restored" bookmarks now appear in both their new and old locations. It takes me hours to get everything organized again, and there is no way for me to ensure that Firefox will not do the same thing again. I suppose it happens due to a faulty sync, but why does this "sync" reset my bookmarks to the way they were months ago?!?

Sounds like corruption in Sync, or in a Firefox installation that gets propagated thru Sync and affect other devices.

Per chance do you have a "mobile device" (using Firefox for Android or Firefox for iOS) connected to that Firefox Account?

Quite honestly, is is a good idea to disconnect from the Sync server before making large changes to your bookmarks.
