Sometimes when trying to send an email, the Send functions are inactivated
Sometimes when trying to send an email, the Send functions are inactivated. In this case, I can't send the email. I now have two emails unsent because of this. Do you know why this sometimes happens? How can I send the email when it does happen?
I have tried copying the text onto a new email, but when I do this, the inactivated Sends follows the text. It appears that something in the text is causing this. And I still can't send it.

The only time I have seen this is when there is no address entered in an address field.
Is Thunderbird Online? Look in the lower left corner for an icon that looks like 2 monitors. This is the online/offline indicator. Hovering over it show the status. Clicking it toggles the status.
If offline the send button should change to Send Later and not be inactive, but it is worth checking.
I did find an old thread where an add-on was causing this problem. If you go to the Help Menu and Start with Add-ons Disabled does it work?

I noticed once that there was no subject; I think the address was filled in; I will look for this int he future. Experimenting with Add-Ons will take me a day or two.
Thank you for your help.
A blank subject line does not affect my Send button but not having an actual email address in the address field leaves it inoperative.
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back. My failing brain lost track of this, and I just found it again.
I am using Tb 52.4.0
I thought of the suggestions above. I filled in everything. The Send functions still didn't work.
Tb online? I sent a previous email, and another subsequently. When cut-and-pasted, the no Send problem followed the text. It appeared that the problem was in the text.
However I have neither time nor patience nor residual intellect to try to debug the version I have now. I want to return to a previous version which I understood and everything I needed seemed to work. That would be the last version prior to 52.4.0. I think. Is there anyway I can find a list of the versions I have used previously?
Version 52.3.0 http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/52.3.0/ if Windows OS click on 'win32' Choose language eg: en-GB is English British click on 'Thunderbird Setup 52.3.0.exe' file to download.
I am looking for a final Tb version to use for the rest of my life (likely one to two years, though I wouldn't object to three if offered).
Do you think that 52.3.0 is the optimal version to serve this purpose?
I am running W7 64 bit. Do you recommend throttling down to 32 for Tb?
